Bordeaux

Discover Bordeaux

Famous around the world, Bordeaux wines own an exceptional know-how. The Bordeaux region is a place worth visiting in the eyes of wine lovers, because it’s the home of more sought-after and expensive wines than any other region in the world.

World wine capital, Bordeaux has given its name to the oldest and most prestigious vineyard region in France, and is famous the world over for its fine wines!

Above Landes, the Gironde department around Bordeaux is home to some of the world's most celebrated vineyards. The “Grands Crus Classés” of Médoc, Saint-Emilion, Graves, Sauternes and most prestigious Pomerol wines enjoy a very strong world reputation.

The main red grape types of the Bordeaux region are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The three white grape types are Semillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle.

Bordeaux produces the best quality wines compared to all major wine regions of the world. It is perhaps for this reason that Bordeaux is still one of the best showcase of French wine.

Most of the famous sites (including Europe's largest underground church) can be seen only as part of the excellent official tour.

St Emilion is the oldest wine area in the Bordeaux region. The UNESCO organization recognized the great territory and put the site on the World Heritage List. St Emilion wines are considered the most robust of all the Bordeaux. They are generous, very colored, and reach their maturity quicker than other red Bordeaux.
